June sewing workshops in Bristol

I’m delighted to share the details of sewing workshops I’ll be teaching in June.

On Friday 7th I’ll be at The ReUsery in St George. The theme is upcycling items of childrenswear into a cushion cover. This is a lovely way of repurposing items of clothing that are linked to memories, such as days out, holidays and much more I’m sure. A unique addition to the bedroom of a child who has outgrown those clothes and a great way to spark stories and conversations. This is a hand sewing workshop and the blank cushion cover will be provided, all you need to bring are some items you’re ready to cut up.

On Saturday June 22nd I’ll be running a tote bag making workshop in the lovely studio space at Bristol School of Sewing and Textiles. The bag you take home at the end of the session will be made from upcycled scraps of fabric. As you can see from the samples I’ve made, pictured below, the end result is quite different depending upon the fabrics used.

We’ll be using sewing machines to make the bags.

Please do spread the word with people who you think these workshops will appeal. You really can’t beat the power of word of mouth as a form of promotion.

What should you expect from my workshops? There will be lots of professional hints, tips and design ideas as well as teaching technical skills, which you’ll be able to relate to other sewing projects. Also expect tea and a sense of fun!
